How to Save Money Vaping
Callum ColleyShare
Vaping has become a popular alternative to smoking. Whether you are trying to quit cigarettes or you just love vaping for leisure, most people don't realise how expensive it can get when they first get started. Initially, it may look cheap. After all, you just need a vape kit and some e-liquid, right?
However, in the long run, this could add up really quickly. You soon realise that vape coils burn out, e-liquids run dry, and new devices are constantly being released. Before you know it, you are spending more than you did on smoking.
But this doesn't have to be the case. Depending on how you go about it, vaping shouldn't be costly. With a few tips and tricks up your sleeve, you should be able to enjoy your favourite flavours and vapour without breaking the bank.
In this guide, we talk about everything you need to save money vaping, from choosing the right vaping device to how to make your vaping juice last longer. All the tips are simple and easy to follow, so let’s get started.
Choosing the Right Vape Device
Saving money vaping begins with the first thing you always need, which is the actual device. There are many different vaping devices that you can choose from, including disposable vapes, pod systems, vape pens, box mods, and more. It is important to consider your needs before choosing any of these, and think about long-term use.
For example, disposable vapes might seem very cheap at first, but you have to consider that it is not reusable. This means that every time it runs out, you have to buy a new one. Of course, apart from this, disposable vapes have many benefits, and if you don't vape a lot and you find them convenient, you can still use them.
However, if you are a frequent vaper, you will need a new one every few days, which can add up over time. Instead, opt for pod systems and vape pens, which you can recharge, refill, and even replace parts like coils or pods. These are more affordable in the long term.
Simply put, if you vape regularly, avoid disposable vapes and invest in a high-quality rechargeable device. Look for starter kits that include everything you need, such as battery, tank, coils, and even e-liquid. These kits usually offer better value.
Buy E-Liquids in Larger Bottles
Even if you get yourself a rechargeable vape, it doesn't mean you are set for life. You will still spend money (and a lot of it if you are not smart), buying e-liquids. Buying 10ml bottles or only when you run out can add up fast. Instead, consider buying your vape juice in bulk or in larger sizes, like 100ml shortfills.
Shortfill bottles give you more liquid and are cheaper per ml. Multi-buy offers, like 3 for 2 or buy 5 get 1 free, are also very common on many vape websites. Don't forget about subscription services, which often offer clearances if you sign up for regular deliveries.
This would especially be super easy if you have just one or two flavours that you enjoy. Stick to those and buy them in larger quantities. It will help you avoid wasting money trying flavours you might not like.
How to Use and Replace Coils to Save Money
Vape coils don’t last forever. Every once in a while, you will need to replace them. To make your coils last longer, always make sure you prep them properly. Soak it with a few drops of e-liquid and let it sit in the vape tank for about 5 minutes before you start vaping. This helps avoid dry hits that can burn the coil right away.
You also need to use the right wattage. If the wattage is too high and the device gets too hot, it can burn the coil more quickly. And, don't chain vape. Chain vaping means taking too many puffs in a row. This doesn’t give the coil time to re-soak, and can cause it to burn out faster.
Another money-saving tip when it comes to coils is to buy them in bulk. Buying single coils every time can be more expensive. Also, make sure that your e-liquid isn’t too thick for your coil (higher VG = thicker liquid), as it can cause faster burnout.
Opt for Refillable Pod Kits (Instead of Replacing Pods)
There are two types of pods you can opt for. Some devices use closed pods, others use refillable pods. Closed pods mean that once it is empty, you will have to throw it away. Refillable pods allow you to fill them with your e-liquid multiple times, making them cheaper in the long run.
Choosing a pod system that allows you to refill your own liquid means that you will spend less and have more freedom to pick from a wide range of flavours and nicotine strengths.
Choose Nicotine Salts
If you are constantly reaching for your vape, it could be because the juice you are using is not satisfying your cravings. That is why you keep vaping often, which means using more e-liquid. To fix this, increase the strength of your juice or use nicotine salts.
Nicotine salts are absorbed into your system faster and more smoothly, providing quicker and longer-lasting satisfaction. This means less vaping, hence less e-liquid used.
Take Advantage of Online Deals and Sales
Many online vape stores often have better prices than physical shops. They also offer discounts, clearance sales, bundle deals, loyalty points, and even free shipping. The trick is to find a reliable supplier and stick to them. Sign up for newsletters, if available, and watch for seasonal sales like Black Friday or summer discounts. If there is a loyalty program, consider joining it as well. These programs usually give you points for everything you order, which you can eventually redeem to receive something for “free” or at a discounted price.
Handle and Store Your Vape Kit Properly
Sometimes, vaping being expensive is your own fault. Wasting vape juice when refilling your devices or ruining coils because of poor storage is a hidden cost that many people overlook. Heat, sunlight, and poor handling can damage e-liquid and devices.
Always store your vape juice in a cool place (room temperature), and don’t leave your vape in a hot car or in the sun. Also, clean your tank regularly to prevent gunk buildup, as it can cause your coil to burn out faster. Taking care of your vape is just like taking care of any other electronic device. Clean it, store it well, and handle it with care.
Small Changes, Big Savings
Vaping doesn’t have to be expensive. All you need to do is make a few small changes and adopt some simple habits that will help you save a lot of money without compromising your experience. Start by picking the right device, then focus on saving with your e-liquids, coils, and pods. Don't forget to take advantage of deals online. These might seem like simple, obvious tips, but try them and see how big of a difference they make.
